The Director/Manager of The Special Day Hilary McCumiskey has been
designing and creating bespoke gowns and costumes for over 20 years.
She has a
B.A.Hons. Degree in Television Costume Design and has been a freelance Art Director on Coronation Street and has worked on many other Granada and BBC television shows.

She worked on tour nationally as Head of Costume for the Northern Ballet Theatre for a number of years and has designed and created costumes for Principle dancers Rudolf Nureyev, Christopher Gable and Moira Shearer.
Nine years ago Hilary retrained as a teacher and became
Head of Textiles Technology at Bolton School Girls' Division and at The Deanery in Wigan giving her greater knowledge and understanding not only of textiles fabrics and techniques but also meeting the

specific requirements of others.
Hilary has been in such constant demand for her elegant and professional work and has designed and created many Wedding gowns, Prom dresses, Christening robes and also ice skating, dance and ballet costumes, including tutus,
over the years, that she is now culminating her expertise into a livelihood.
At The Special Day Hilary strives to provide an efficient, calm and confident service to all her customers in the hope that they will come back again for other special events in their family lives.
Originally from Cheshire Hilary recently moved to Lancashire where

is based, in a peaceful rural setting close to Chorley town centre.
